Career Summary

Ed is a hands-on, PMI-certified, Senior Project/Program Manager, with diversified experience in the development and implementation of information systems for a wide range of commercial and government clients in various industries, primarily Healthcare, Finance and Telecommunications.

For more than 25 years, first with IBM Professional Services (precursor of the current IBM Global Services), and then with his own Project Management consulting firm, Ed has managed numerous application development / software engineering projects (mainframe and client server) of different sizes and complexities, at times concurrently. He has broad experience in managing (and consulting in) all of the traditional development phases: Business Case Development/Project Objectives, Requirements, Design, Code, Test, Implementation/Rollout and Maintenance.

In addition, Ed has taught Project Management classes, consulted as a member of a Project Management Office, conducted Project Reviews, developed, taught and delivered Executive Information Support products (for IBM), mentored project managers, managed Contingency Planning engagements, and consulted as part of an international team in the development of a Project Management Methodology (for IBM).

Ed has international consulting experience, both as a Country Advisor to IBM Malaysia for 2 years (Systems Integration and Professional Services), and as a Project Management Consultant in Paris for 6 Months.

Ed enjoys most turning around projects that are in trouble. That is, projects for which either Management recognizes problem signs (missed target dates, scope creep, budget overruns, poor estimating, excessive overtime, deteriorating team moral, etc.), or for which Management does not recognize problem signs, but which exist anyway.

Ed is an active member of PMI, IEEE and SEI. He is formally educated as an attorney and electrical engineer.
