clipmate Go to www.clipmate.com to get the program Another great little add-on product is ClipMate, now in its 10th year (I've been using it for more than six years, myself). Clipmate takes the Windows Clipboard and extends it so that it does all the things you've always wanted to be able to do with the clipboard but never could. Rather than working with one piece of clipboard data at a time, ClipMate remembers all items (both text and graphic) that are copied to the clipboard and stores them in "collections" for later pasting. You can scroll through the list of items on the clipboard and paste a previous item, preview graphics items before you paste them (see screen shot below), or delete items from the clipboard if you don't need them anymore. If you have items that you want to keep long-term, you can create collections of clipped items and easily access them through the explorer-like interface that is also available. There's even a feature that will reformat text items so that the line-breaks are 'reasonable' -- great for handling email that you've cut and want to paste into another mesage, but without the annoying formating from the old message. There's even a great feature to save any graphics clip as a JPEG file (that's how I captured the screenshot below). No more having to fire up your image editor anymore! ![]() This is the main window that opens up if you click the ClipMate icon in the system tray (standard Clipbpard features are available through the normal Cut/Paste ({Ctrl-C} or {Ctrl-V} keyboard shortcuts so you don't have to go to this menu unless you need some of the more advanced features). Great product! |
